Just updated to 5.5 and trying to apply cheat to 5.5 created save, nope, error
Resigning from lower fw still work though

They will resolve it eventually, so I am not too worried. Let's not start fearmongering just yet.
Besides, if you never update, you usually can't play multi-player for most games or loss access to other features that require you to update. If you don't care about that, then go ahead and avoid all future updates.
I've gotten the most out of it so far either way.
