CEX to DEX

Post by Darthsternie » Wed Apr 01, 2015 11:40 am

In this Tutorial I will show you how to convert your PS3 from a CEX(retail console) to a DEX(developer console) and from DEX back to CEX
THIS IS THE TUTORIAL FOR REBUG FIRMWARES 4.65.2+
What you need:
Rebug Firmware 4.65.2+
Rebug Toolbox 02.02.04 FULL pkg file: http://rebug.me/official-rebug-4-70-1-c ... -apr-2015/(The download link is at the bottom/Download FULL pkg file)

This can be used for both scenarios if you want to go from CEX to DEX or from DEX to CEX

Download the Rebug Toolbox 02.02.04 and copy the pkg file to the root of your USB
Plug the USB into your Playstation and go to package manager-->install package files-->Standard-->Rebug_Toolbox_02.02.04.pkg and tap X to install
After it installed sucessfully start Rebug Toolbox
Now go to Utilities Tab and go to the Bottom. There you will find a Line called"Dump eid root key
Now press X and say yes.It will now dump the eid root key and reboot your PS3.
After the Reboot is done go back to Rebug Toolbox and go to the DEX/CEX Tab
Now go to "Rewrite Target ID in flash" and tab X.You will be greeted with this
Image
Say yes to continue and after that go to "Change LV2 Kernel"
It will now change LV2 Kernel to DEX and reboot afterwards
Now start Rebug Toolbox again.Under System Information it should now say:
LV2 Kernel: DEX
Target Type: DEX
Have fun with your new DEX console :D

If you want to change back just go to the  DEX/CEX Tab and "Rewrite Target ID in Flash".Your PS3 will now Reboot and you're back to CEX.

If you are having Problems playing Games and they crash with Error 80010007 you will need to start Rebug Toolbox go to the Utilities Tab to the bottom "Change active PS3ID and change it to XX(CEX)
Where XX is is your Region Code.

THIS IS THE TUTORIAL FOR OLD REBUG FIRMWARES!!!
You will need:
Fat32 Usb Stick with at least 256 MB free
c2d: http://www.mediafire.com/download/jwjgg ... penssl.rar
PS3 with Rebug CFW and Rebug toolbox
Openssl: http://slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html (Download Win32 OpenSSL v1.0.2a Light)
eid root key dumper: http://store.brewology.com/ahomebrew.php?brewid=228 (DownloadEID Root Key Dumper for your Firmware )

First of I am not responsible for any damage that this can do to your PS3!You decided on doing this!If you do something wrong there is a high risk of bricking your PS3!
If you still want to continue here is the tutorial with pictures

If you're not on REBUG CFW I would strongly advise you to follow this tutorial on how to downgrade to 3.55: http://psx-scene.com/forums/content/rog ... 3-55-3171/
After Downgrading QA Flag the Console and then Install your desired REBUG Version(I would strongly recommend you to use the NEW Method that works on REBUG 4.65.2+)
After you sucessfully installed REBUG go to package manager-->install package files-->PS3 system storage-->Rebug_Toolbox_XX.XX.XX.pkg and tap X to install
Now start Rebug Toolbox and go to the Utilities tab. There you need to go to the bottom and choose Export Flash to File and choose yes.
If it doesn't work directly and it complains about no Usb000 then just change the USB port and it should work.

Then you will need to install eid root key dumper:
1.Plug your USB stick into your PC
2.Copy the eidrootkeydumper.pkg file to the root of the USB stick
3.Stick the USB back into your PS3
4.Go to package manager and choose install package files-->Standard-->eidrootkeydumper.pkg
5.After it got installed sucessfully just start it(this will take a few seconds and the display will be black)
When you're back in XMB remove the USB from the PS3 and plug it into your PC
There should now be two files:
eid_root_key and XXXXXXXX-XXXXXX-FLASH-NOR-FWX.XX.NORBIN if your PS3 uses NOR or XXXXXXXX-XXXXXX-FLASH-NAND-FWX.XX.NANDBIN if your PS3 uses NAND
(FWX.XX is where your System version is)

Now you will need to install Openssl to Drive C:openssl and C:OpenSSL-Win32 so that there will be two folders called openssl and OpenSSL-win32.
After that extract the c2d archive and copy it to your drive C:
Now copy eid_root_key and XXXXXXXX-XXXXXX-FLASH-NOR-FWX.XX.NORBIN or XXXXXXXX-XXXXXX-FLASH-NAND-FWX.XX.NANDBIN into the c2d folder
Rename eid_root_key to dump and and rename XXXXXXXX-XXXXXX-FLASH-NOR-FW4.65.NORBIN to CEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN or XXXXXXXX-XXXXXX-FLASH-NAND-FW4.65.NANDBIN to CEX-FLASH.EID0.NANDBIN

Now open CMD and type this:
1.cd C:/c2d
(NOR)2.c2d.exe dump CEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN DEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN 82
(NAND)2.c2d.exe dump CEX-FLASH.EID0.NANDBIN DEX-FLASH.EID0.NANDBIN 82
Here is a picture on how it should look like:
Image
Now copy CEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN and DEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN or CEX-FLASH.EID0.NANDBIN and DEX-FLASH.EID0.NANDBIN to the root of your USB
Plug the USB back into your PS3 and start Rebug Toolbox
1.Go to the DEX/CEX Tab and choose Rewrite Target ID in Flash and complete everything with yes
2.Now use Swap LV2 Kernel and choose yes
You're PS3 will now restart(if your PS3 hangs up just turn it off and ON and it should work)
Start Rebug Toolbox and use System information. If it says DEX behind your Firmware Version you've done everything right and are now owner of a DEX console :D
If you want to change back to a CEX console just start Rebug Toolbox go to DEX/CEX tab and Rewrite Target ID in Flash and Swap LV2 Kernel afterwards.(The USB with the files needs to be plugged into the PS3)

If you are having Problems playing Games and they crash with Error 80010007 you will need to start Rebug Toolbox go to the Utilities Tab to the bottom "Change active PS3ID and change it to XX(CEX)
Where XX is is your Region Code.

If you bought a PS3 with DEX preinstalled and you want to go to CEX you will need this:
Fat32 Usb Stick with at least 256 MB free
c2d: http://www.mediafire.com/download/jwjgg ... penssl.rar
PS3 with Rebug CFW and Rebug toolbox
Openssl: http://slproweb.com/products/Win32OpenSSL.html (Download Win32 OpenSSL v1.0.2a Light)
eid root key dumper: http://store.brewology.com/ahomebrew.php?brewid=228 (DownloadEID Root Key Dumper for you Firmware Version)

Now Download REBUG D-REX here: http://rebug.me/and install it.(I would strongly recommend you to update to 4.65.2 so that you are able to use the NEW Method)
After you sucessfully installed REBUG D-REX go to package manager-->install package files-->PS3 system storage-->Rebug_Toolbox_XX.XX.XX.pkg and tap X to install

Rename eid_root_key to dump and and rename XXXXXXXX-XXXXXX-FLASH-NOR-FW4.65.NORBIN to DEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN or XXXXXXXX-XXXXXX-FLASH-NAND-FW4.65.NANDBIN to DEX-FLASH.EID0.NANDBIN

Now open CMD and type this:
1.cd C:/c2d
(NOR)2.c2d.exe dump DEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN CEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN XX
(NAND)2.c2d.exe dump DEX-FLASH.EID0.NANDBIN CEX-FLASH.EID0.NANDBIN XX
Where the XX is you will need to choose your Region:
Image
Now copy CEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN and DEX-FLASH.EID0.NORBIN or CEX-FLASH.EID0.NANDBIN and DEX-FLASH.EID0.NANDBIN to the root of your USB.
If it says CEX behind your Firmware Version you've done everything right and are now using a CEX console
If you want to change back to a DEX console just start Rebug Toolbox go to DEX/CEX tab and Rewrite Target ID in Flash and Swap LV2 Kernel afterwards.(The USB with the files needs to be plugged into the PS3)

Hope I helped you :D
