Honestly this isn't even needed (though would be nice). Back up your profile save (not character save) and after opening the key chest then save your game and restore the profile save. You will keep the gear and get your keys back.

Hard for me to go through the NG+3 to get all DLC trophies.

There is a little online content in DMCV, so SW may not support advance mode.
MSGV and Dragon's Dogma are good examples ~
