I'm in need of the orbs coding. I used save wizard in advanced mode and it seems somehow when I swapped the mma ticket and blue crystal chalky leaves for the magic key and ultimate key the blue crystal remained and I didn't notice till now. I've done all the parts to have the orbs and ready to climb the tree but can't from the orb being mistakingly edited out. The one I believe I need is the yellow orb which I think you get when you first start hunting for the orbs. Can anyone give me the I_D numbers for the orbs so I can edit the correct one back in? I'd hate to restart after so many hours. Thanks

Cheat to have max 99 amount of all items for the full 20 pages? Which is a total of 160 items ( materials and consumables all together )

I just collected all items and materials and sadly, the cheats for "max items for first 200 items" causes game to crash.

Does anyone know of a working cheat for max amount for all 160 items in Item bag?

That's because you went over the number of item slots you have.
Try this code for all the items and materials

Code: Select all

First 160 Items and Materials Max
80010004 00495F00
00000000 00000001
00000063 00000000
4900000A 000003E7
40A00017 00000000
And all I did for this was change the 100 items code line which was 40640017 00000000. I changed the amount it stops at from 100(64 Hex) to 160(A0 Hex)

Rebel521 wrote:If anyone is interested, I found the ID for the Magic & Ultimate Key.

The only thing is because there are less digits in the ID than in normal items, in order to keep from corrupting the save you have to replace a key item with the magic & U.K. ID.

Obviously, you need to replace a key item you don't need anymore. I replaced the MMA draw item from the tournament in Octavia after the events were all concluded. You can also use the Keystone after you use the Door of departure and Grampa Chalky's letter you find in the box by the triangular rock.

Side note: unlike other games where the ultimate type key opens all locks, in this game the Magic Key opens only red doors and the Ultimate key opens only the silver doors.

replace 2 these items with ID for the keys
I_S_027 = Chalky's Letter
I_S_002 = Keystone
I_S_015 = MMA draw #

I_S_008 = Magic Key
I_S_009 = Ultimate Key

Now you can open all locked doors from early in the game.

Thank you, this was am awesome find

This is a guide that will teach you how to use Save Wizard to inject data into your Dragon Quest XI save. We all have seen people saying that you can't modify you save data without corrupting it. That is not true. You can inject the entire anything into the save file via the use of Save Wizard and a hex editor (HxD) for this particular task.

Before we get started... MAKE BACKUPS OF YOUR SAVE FILE. It is always important to have backups in case you mess something up. To myself, this is a very easy process but to others it may seem very daunting. I will try to explain as much as possible and provide a few images to make it a little easier to understand. You should have a reasonable understand of how game files work. I am gonna break down some of the key features of the save file format for DQXI.

Save file features:
1. Though it looks like a very complex file system (and if you know anything about Enix's notorious programming skills), it really isn't. Actually it is really simple once you understand what is happening.
2. There is no checksum or special system in place to verify the save. No pointers to data blocks. Absolutely nothing. BUT if you don't modify the proper block for the information you are injecting. You will ruin your save file. That is user error and not a fault of the game.
3. The vast majority of people's saves have different addresses for data blocks. Reason being - it's just how much information you have stored in your save file. It's not a top secret algorithm made in area 51 to keep us from cheating. There is enough of that crap in the save encryption stuff games use now. When you start out your game your character data maybe has about 50 lines of information and by the time you start adding in skills, it probably triples or more in size (I'm not gonna break it down for an exact number). See image below. The font I used in 8pt. So that should give you an idea of how big the block is since most people use at least 12pt and I shrunk the overall image a few times to make it fit better on your screen and to try to not take up to much space. One if for a complete HERO and the other is some character I haven't got yet (just picked up the sisters and filled their stuff as much as getting to circus town/horse race lets me, so whoever is next...)
character_blockcomp.png

4. All the stuff you want to modify is in a form of plain text (at least in terms of you can see it instead of random computer gibberish). With a little attention to detail you can really do some major adjustments to your game (possibly make it game breaking).

5. Break down the the save data blocks (that we all care about and not the first 2/3 of the file - scroll down... a lot!)
First blocks that you will want to notice are the character blocks. I believe there is 8 of them. They vary in size and will change with how you progress your characters. But we all know we cheat and will max them out as soon as they are added into the party! This will drastically change the positions that data will be located at and also the reason a good all items max code is rather difficult to pull off. NO FIXED ADDRESSES.

Second block is what I call the DLC block. Reason why!? Because it mentions DLC 20 times. Don't know what purpose this is and maybe there was some DLC included in the game. Moving on because we won't be messing with this.

Third block(s) are gonna be your character's bag inventory. You have a max of 24 (18 hex) items for each bag. Every character has one for a grand total of 192 item slots. They are not automatically in the save file and will only appear after you have attained the new character. I'm gonna break down some key details about these blocks because I will be harping on a certain point for the rest of this document. THIS IS THE REASON PEOPLE THOUGHT YOU COULD NOT INJECT NEW DATA AND INCREASE THE OVERALL SIZE OF THE FILE. (see picture below)

You will notice that I have 2 numbers circled - 1 in red and 1 in green. I chose those colors who hopefully they will stand out from the hex editor stuff. The numbers I circled at the point where the bag block begins. In the previous paragraph you will see I mention 24 items (18 hex). See the connection!? All the bag going forward will use this method. Actually other parts I have mentioned before also use it but again... not editing that stuff. Below is a shot of 3 highlighted sections of the same item. How did he manage to highlight 3 different sections... Photoshop and layers. Old school! HIGHLIGHT 01 is what your FIRST ITEM in your inventory will look like. Break down now...
3compare.png
3compare.png (152.64 KiB) Viewed 19675 times
1. First byte of first item (for this case 18) - Total number of items in the bag
1.1 This number only appears for the first item in the bag. It will be a null byte for the rest till the end of the bag contents.
2. Then there is 3 null bytes (00)s.
3. Next you will see (0A). To the best of my knowledge this signifies what type of item it is. I think (0A) is for normal items and materials.
4. Then there is 3 more null bytes (00)s.
5. Now you have your item information. It is 9 bytes or characters long. Just look at the picture.
6. It may appear that you have a null then a number but actually this position can be a 16 bit number (0102 hex - 2 bytes). This is the number you have on hand. For character inventory the max is 1. They don't stack here.
7. Blasted nulls... they won't go away and it brought a friend. HEY WAIT A MINUTE!! I'm not stupid Mr. Guide Writer Person... I count 3 of them. Very true. I never said you were stupid or at least I'm not trying to. The reason I said 2 instead of the is in other instances of item count you can go as high as 99 (63 hex), 999 (03E7 hex) and 9,999 (2F07 hex). The format for items (NOT EQUIPMENT) is the same across the board.

Fourth block (1 block but a good one) is your catch all item inventory bag. After the last number (usually a 01) of your last character bag it should be 40 bytes (28 hex) to the first number (total item count number) of the item bag. It may be different but you should be able to tell where one ends and the other begins because there is quite a few null bytes between them. THIS WILL BE THE BAG/BLOCK WE ARE EDITING. Not all items are located in this bag. Mini Medals, Perfect Pearls and I think Casino Coins have their own bag later down the file. I haven't confirmed about the Casino stuff because I am not that far into the game. But an educated guess says go with it. Another note about some strange about this bag's setup... Even though MEDICINAL HERBS are I_USE_001 and should be the first item in the bag... they in fact are the very last. Maybe a safety measure. Maybe not but I do have 2 saves that were sorted by TYPE before saving and they ended this way. Something to keep in mind. Don't worry though... my data chunk for insertion has you covered for this. There is 8 (00) null bytes after the last (63) till the equipment bag starts.

Item order in inventory
I_USE_
I_MIN_
I_STO_
I_JEW_
I_WOO_
I_CLO_
I_LEA_
I_BON_
I_OTH_
-->EXCEPT I_USE_001 goes after all this.

Fifth block is your equipment block. You can edit this as well just the tutorial will show but you are gonna be on your own for creating data. 500+ items is just not in the cards for me to make up right now.

Sixth block is what I am guessing is your key items. Yep! I suggest being very careful if you ever edit this stuff.

Seventh block is where you Mini Medals, Perfection Pearls and Casino Coins are located.

Eighth block is something I haven't dug into yet. It looks very interesting... Maybe something to do with the compendium or whatever it is called in the game!?

Ninth block is a list of achievements. Yep!

Tenth block is something to do with weather. Don't know. Don't care.

Eleventh block looks like Recipe Books... Hmm... maybe we can add them in!? Don't know and haven't tried (yet).

Block twelve is a whole lot of I don't know what. I'm just gonna end here though there is something interesting at the end of the file to which may be the other place I look for compendium completion ideas (later much later date).

Are you still with me? Wow this is a long winded explanation. Hopefully we can get to the real point now. I have tried to break down some important information to give you a leg up on the next process. Gonna go by really quick now.

-------THE REAL REASON YOU ARE READING THIS-------

Tools needed for this - Save Wizard or whatever it is for you region (and system... yes this works on PC saves too) ; HxD Hex Editor (easiest hex editor to do what we are doing - not my personal favorite editor) ; notepad++ (for a little protective step and great at manipulating data really fast for codes) ; PATIENCE and steady hand (precision is paramount in this, not brain surgery but as close in terms of game hacking).

Step 1: Open your save file in ADVANCED MODE.

Step 2: You will need a save that you have pulled for your save file. I suggestion not using auto save. Pick one of the numbered ones like 000, 001 and etc.

Step 3: Extract the chosen save to a file via the menu in the right corner. Save it to whatever the number is with a ***.dat extension (default). Keep it in a safe place.

Step 4: Open your save file with HxD and scroll down to the for mentioned Fourth Block. The catch all item bag. That's it for this step for now.

Step 5: Open up notepad++ and create a new file. Take the data that I am providing here in a code box and select all to copy/paste into that new document in notepad++. Make sure you have all of it highlighted. In the bottom bar you should see number with something like - length : 7330 lines : 1. If you do and the numbers match... Step 6: Go back to HxD and open a new doc without closing your save file. It should appear blank with nothing but offsets on the screen. Bring notepad++ back up and select all the data again and hit copy. Take this copy to the NEW DOCUMENT not YOUR SAVE and paste it. It will tell you that the file size will change and tell it that's ok. The file should resemble this one (see below). Go for it! Halfway done... Woo hoo!

Step 7: While still in HxD go back to your save file. We are gonna have to put that brain surgery to the test now. I have provided an image of a modified save (I shrunk my inventory so that you can see exactly what I am doing and you need to be doing). I can assure you that unless you only have 2 items in your inventory bag, your save will not look like this. Just hang in there. The risk is worth the reward. Once again we are gonna do some highlighting (honestly should have stock in sharpie markers with this much going on). In the image you will notice I have selected the ITEM COUNT number and took the highlighting all the way up to the EQUIPMENT BAG's ITEM COUNT NUMBER (down to the last null byte - VERY IMPORTANT). Make sure you don't lose this selection grab when I tell you the next step.

Step 8: Go to your new doc and select all again... Hit copy and go back to the save file. If you screen still looks like the above picture with the numbers I told you to select still selected... Right click and hit insert. You should end up with something that looks like this:

If everything went ok and make sure you have 8 bytes between the last number for I_USE_001 (which should be 63) then you are ready to save it.

Step 9: Open back up Save Wizard (etc.) and import the modified save back into the original version. Now this is a tricky step. Save Wizard will not save the modified save immediately. You have to edit something in the ADVANCED MODE then HIT APPLY in the bottom right corner to make it take affect. I suggest finding a null byte and make sure you are on the hex side editing data and just type 00. Hit apply and send your save back to their servers for processing.

Step 10: TEST IT! Hopefully you made a backup just in case. Stored it in a Hobbit hole or something. Keep it secret. Keep it safe! Replace your save like normal and fire up the game. You should have 20 pages of items in your inventory now. Unless there is some missing I think this is every item in the game. Now keep in mind I didn't edit Mini Medals, Perfection Pearls or Casino Coins. They do not go in this bag.

I hope this helps people out and ends the myth that you can't inject bytes into the save. Normally I would post this elsewhere but since we all need Save Wizard to do it on PS4 and people are always asking about stuff like this in this thread, I felt it appropriate to go here. If I forgot something or something you may not understand, I will try to clarify but I need a break since I have been typing this on and off for 12 hours. This is rewrite number 5.

**After looking over the preview I noticed a few spelling errors in some pictures. I'm not fixing them. This guide wore my brain out. Hope it helps. Yes you can modify some of the other inventories and the data I provided will give you 99 of each item in the bag.
