So far all of the methods I see to install CFW or jailbreak a PS3 running 4.75 OFW require you to solder something to the board or buy a 100 dollar flasher for it.
There have been a few that allow me to install CFW on my PS3 with only a USB stick that I load files onto, but I don't know how legit that is.
Can someone tell me if there is a way to do it? I am new to the scene and basically turn my PS3 into a BA multimedia device were I can run backups of my games and play homebrew and what not.

RE: Solderless method to install CFW?
Basically, to answer your question, the method you're talking about isn't CFW. The only way is to solder and downgrade and use a flasher. My suggestion would be to find someone that knows how to do it and have them do it for you. It's not too epensive. Usually $50-$75 and well worth it.
